Day two of new routine and Just Dance goes on. The only issue is that it’s a two-player game and of course there are three happy little people. Twin One isn’t the most flexible of characters and doesn’t like to lose or not choose the song to dance to, so you can imagine how harmonious it is. Twin One currently has no front teeth, so when she’s really, really, angry she hisses like a snake. I affectionately refer to her as ‘snake mouth’. Which obviously just fuels her rage further. But I just can’t help it. Sometimes, when you are beaten down by the relentless demands of tiny humans whom you’ve raised with your own traits, there is something secretly delicious in poking the bear by teasing with humour. Both Husband and I are guilty of this behaviour. I immediately try to pacify snake mouth Twin One, by offering my services to be an additional dancer; immediately wishing I hadn’t as it results in having to do three consecutive dances, Britney Spears Toxic, Stevie Wonder Superstitious, finishing on the Will Smith song Wild, Wild West. Sheesh slightly concerned about a cardiac arrest following that one! Child One has good cowboy moves, unlike myself who following a squat fell over.

After PE I obviously crack the whip and made the happy little people knuckle down to some very challenging academic work. Child One has the hang of the school online work system and gets on fairly independently, throwing the odd random question at me for help. The Twins have a handwriting task, which was a suggestion from my sister-in-law, for each letter of the alphabet list a girls name, boys name and an object beginning with the letter. I thought this would be an independent task and they would complete it quite quickly. Ha ha ha ha how wrong was I? The expectation is too high, so I tweak it to just the first three letters thinking it can be an on-going daily task instead. Various disputes erupt about not having the same name choices and it’s debatable what they consider an object, but I let that slide as quite frankly I don’t have the patience or the energy to go there and I want to do an online yoga class at 10:30am. Set them up on Purple Mash, which I know they can do on their own, and log into Zoom wondering if it is at all feasible to make it a habit to do a weekly yoga class while the happy little people do school work? Now it may have been a total fluke, but it’s not too bad. They leave me alone mostly, the odd question, mainly what time is break? Break is during the second half of yoga and funnily enough they know how to get themselves a snack when they need to.

Cat decided to write back to the spiders at my brother’s house, Bob and Mildred. He wrote them a letter and popped it in the post. At tea-time Cat walked past the dinner table and sneezed, the happy little people immediately told him off for not doing a ‘dab’ sneeze and told him to go and wash his paws (in the absence of a tissue, do not sneeze into your hands, sneeze into a closed elbow to avoid spreading the Covid-19 virus). Silly Cat.
