The weather is lovely at the moment, and it does make this whole situation more bearable. I take the happy little people out this morning. I give them each an empty egg box and tell them they need to collect the colours of the rainbow. We head into the woods and they are finding all sorts of things. Yellow dandelion, a red leaf, a green leaf, feather. Twin one is dominating the walk and insisting on leading the way. She finds a large cluster of trees where a tree has fallen over and other people have obviously been gathering sticks to form a kind of den. The happy little people want to explore and climb, which I let them, even though I’m thinking please don’t fall out of that tree, no hospital visits at the moment! Twin One has positioned herself like a sloth and is asking for a photo. Twin Two is a bit braver and has climbed up a bit requesting a photo with her thumbs up. Child One has actually climbed quite high up and then manages to slip and fall. Fortunately no broken bones just a couple of grazes but the fuss and drama coming from him, you’d have thought the injuries were worse. He recovers quite quickly though and climbs straight back onto the tree, determined not to repeat the same mistake.

Once home Child One continues with some school work online and the Twins paint their egg boxes in the garden. I get them to check on the seeds we planted, some of them are progressing well. There are four butterflies in our net, they are red admirals and the time has come to release them. We lock Cat in the house to do so and take the butterflies into the garden to open the net basket they are currently house in. One by one they slowly make their way out and fly off. The happy little people talk the entire time, it is like a stream of consciousness from all of them. Husband and I say nothing because there is no point and we wouldn’t get a word in anyway.

I have some biscuit dough, so the last task of the day is home economics. I let them roll the dough and cut out shapes, noting how much their fingers are enjoying the texture and try to remember that when offered one to eat.
