The happy little people are living their best lives. They have free reign on the technology and TV. And an abundance of Easter Chocolate to consume, they are not even bothering to get dressed. It is Easter holidays but they are supposedly coming to an end and I’ll have to tackle some form of education from Monday. But there’s part of me that is also enjoying the freeness of not having to do anything in particular with them, so why rock the boat?
My biggest stress at the moment is the food shopping. I have managed to get a booking for an online food shop, I think it was complete luck as I have been trying for a number of weeks and there are never any slots free. In getting one slot for Tesco I then get a text from Ocado to alert me of availability with them, so I book another but for a later date. Trying to work out what we will need for either shop is challenging. I find food shopping overwhelming at the best of times. When the twins were born I found trying to achieve a once a week shop impossible. There was always a key ingredient I would forget or get home and realise we’d run out of something we used regularly. So I changed the way I shopped and stopped setting myself up to fail. For the past five or six years I have shopped every few days. I found I had much less waste and my overall monthly bill came down as I wasn’t panic shopping. It also helped with meal planning as I only ever had to think about a few days ahead. This lockdown situation is making me feel like I have to revert back to a once a week shop, which I am finding too much. The advice of only shopping for essentials and the fear of picking the virus up in a supermarket adds to my general anxiety about the situation. The online shop helps reduce the fear of being in a supermarket but then increases the anxiety over deciding what I need for the next seven days! Add having two slots booked at different stores, well in hindsight is that just stupid or playing the system?
I’ve finished watching Last Tango in Halifax, which was a complete delight. I am now seeking new TV. I tried the Tiger King on Netflix, but it’s too surreal and trashy to persevere with. I found myself watching it behind my hand and as my TV time is pretty small due to the long days with the happy little people, I can’t lose my window to The Tiger King, although I get the fascination. I am eagerly awaiting the second series of After Life, which is coming on the 24th April and in the meantime there is Killing Eve 3, but in comparison to the Yorkshire series, it is a little brutal.
I chose a completely different walking route this evening and didn’t pass my tree Mabel. I met a new tree just before I reached home, no idea what type of tree he is but I liked the look of him. He’s called Christopher.
